Posted September 28, 2018 09:20:59 An Australian woman is charged in the death of her boyfriend’s girlfriend’s pet cat at the park where she had taken it.
The Cat’s Meow is the name given to a cat in the park that the pair adopted.
The 31-year-old woman, from Port Melbourne, allegedly lured the cat into a wooded area near the park’s main entrance on Saturday.
She killed it with a shovel and then fled.
The park has been closed since the incident.
“It was very tragic,” park ranger Kelly O’Donnell said.
“There’s no reason to think that she would be any kind of responsible owner.”
The park is not open for the public during the investigation.
“We have the evidence we need to make a decision,” Mr O’Connor said.
A Victorian woman is accused of killing her pet dog at a park in Melbourne’s north.
Police are investigating after a woman allegedly killed her pet at a popular Melbourne park, killing it with the shovel and fleeing.
The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested at the scene and charged with animal cruelty.
Police said the cat was not injured and that no other animals were harmed.
A park spokeswoman said a park ranger, who has since been released, has been working on the investigation for about three weeks.
“The investigation continues and we would like to hear from anyone who saw the incident,” she said.
“We would also like to advise that we are notifying the public who the suspect is and any witnesses or anyone who may have been in the area at the time.”
