The U.K. is a nation of producers and exporters and its aluminum prices are relatively low compared to China, South Korea and the United States, according to a report published by the United Kingdom’s National Institute for Economic and Social Research (NIESR).
In the past decade, British aluminum producers have doubled their production from 6.8 million tons in 2006 to 11.6 million tons this year.
In the U.-S.
market, China’s aluminum imports have tripled since 2007, while South Korea’s imports have doubled since 2008.
And the U-K.
imports of the UBS/CSV composite aluminum composite have doubled, from 2.7 million tons to 6.6 billion tons, according the report.
The report noted that the United Sates is “the world’s leading producer and exporter of aluminum, with the largest and most advanced production facilities in the U.”s.
The NIESR, which was established in 1948, has a long history of studying the causes of industrial and social change and is committed to advancing science, technology and society.
NIESRs research on the U S. and its impact on the world is focused on understanding the role of technology, public policy and other social forces in the global economy, the report said.
