A man who was dragged into a mudslide at a suburban petrol station died of his injuries, police said on Tuesday.
The incident occurred in Gurdaspur, about 70 km (45 miles) south of New Delhi.
A passerby saw a man on the ground and called for help, and the man who responded was dragged by his pants down a steep hill.
Police said the man died of a heart attack.
The victim, identified as Srinivas Kaul, was a maintenance worker at a nearby petrol station, said Rajasthani deputy commissioner of police (RPC) Rajesh Singh.
The man had been visiting the petrol station after visiting his parents, who were in hospital, and was visiting relatives for a few days.
